Established in Arlington, Virginia in 1954, Rosenthal Automotive Group was the first automobile distributor in the state to sell Japanese cars in 1970. Since then, the company has become one of the largest private dealerships, with Japanese cars growing increasingly popular.

President Donald Bavely said: “The Japanese manufacturers are excellent. Over the years they have proven themselves for quality and reputation. We can say it was the Japanese relationship that was the backbone of this company”
According to Bavely, the company sells close to 2,000 cars every month, with more buyers preferring Japanese models, like Honda, Acura, Mazda, and Toyota.
With more than 50 years of experience in the industry, founder Robert Rosenthal presided over an expansion that made the company, according to Automotive News, among the 20 largest car dealerships in the country. It currently has 15 franchises in the Virginia, Maryland, and DC area.
Rosenthal Group also distributes Porsche, Volvo, BMW, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Land Rover, and Jaguar. Over the years, it received citations such as, the BMW Center of Excellence, Pride of Jaguar and the Land Rover Retailer Excellence Pinnacle Club Award.
Rosenthal also provides after-sales service and distributes auto parts and accessories for its new and pre-owned cars.
Bavely said: “Our priorities are to maintain our customer satisfaction ratings. I want to maintain our reputation as a company that takes care of its customers. I want to maintain our current levels of growth.”
